“This reissue does indeed swing like crazy” by Pipeline

French guitarist Patrick “Romane” Leguidcoq is one of the leading exponents of Django Reinhardt’s gipsy-jazz legacy. He is also a regular performer for the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society and has worked with the likes of John Jorgensen  and Scotty Moore. This set is certainly in the vein of the gipsy guitarist, including some of his most famous material with with lightning fast single string runs and lively chording, but the Nashville location finds him also tackling some US classics with local sessionman Bob Burns on double bass and his long-time acquaintance Laurent Bejata on second guitar.Originally issued in 2003, this reissue does indeed swing like crazy. Not country, definitely not RI, but it is not difficult to understand just with Romane wowed the Grand Ole Opry.
