"In fact, it would be easier to present Santos Chillemi’s music using hundreds of pretentiousness onomatopoeias and to leave his melodies seize us and our passports to guide us trought a journey to an involving, sensual, nostalgic and planetary destination. Nothing uncertain in all this. Only a powerful music wich leads us to caress with the eyes of the imagination any sidewalk on the borders of the world that salutes us with the remembrance of the last rain. The sun, warm and wet, takes over and dries us up from this stylish diversion putting us uniquivocally into the arms of a voluptuous figure which, by distortion, pushes our memories out, seduces them, feeds them with the colours of our childhood. Nothing escapes this story of life. Nostalgia, sadness, love, hope. We are the tourists of our own dreams, thanks to that unruly rhythm which traduces, magically, our personal stories. There is not anything strange in this. Because this captivating music is the amalgam of many nations feelings. Santos was born in 1950 in Argentina. Nation where the hopes of millions of inmigrants from different origins, were attracted in the beginning of this century. In their shabby suitcases, they were carrying the music - maternal scene - of their native lands. Then, in this country where everything was possible, they sang the songs of others. They ended their intergration identifying themselves with the tango music with varied leneage and wich tells of the hope, the love and the pain of the uprooted people. Like his ancestors, Santos sings Italy. Like his story, he hums Spain. Like his youth, he remembers the Rolling Stones. And as his will tells him, he merges into his music Bela Bartok, Miles Davies, Chick Corea, Keith Jarret, the tango and the folklore of his country. As a corollary, a symphony of pictures deeply Latin American coloured, which develops itself, growing, endless. Four more recordings confirms the aforesaid, one of them, recorded live in the Mainz Festival ( Open OHR ) in Germany. With this fifth album, Santos Chillemi reties the magical sounds of his contrasted and borderless universe wich leaves us - who would bedredge him? - the certitude of an instant of life, of a moment of fantasy."
