« Zesty versions of many familiar and mostly traditional Celtic tunes can be found on Fiddlin’Ian McCamy and his Celtic Reeler’s Sleep Sound In The Morning : Jigs, Reels ‘n’ Rags. The majority of tunes are in the traditional set form, and include a rousing medley of "Merrily Kiss the Quaker / The Connaughtman’s Rambles / Tripping Up the Stairs". McCamy as included a set of original compositions and "The Goven Palace Lament". These closely follow in the traditional style. Vocals are spare. Rob Fuke sings on three tracks including "The Irish Rover". McCamy is an excellent fiddler who seemingly excels at playing rags. His versions of "Beaumont Rag" and "The Red Apple Rag" are fluid and danceable. Heck, the entire CD makes you move, whether it’s a jig or waltz. It’s a joyous collection McCamy assembled. Oh ! And if the art used on the packaging seems familiar, that’s because it was created by none other than R. Crumb. » LDP – DIRTY LINEN Presse Anglaise
