« Swanny Elzingre désigne son art et son métier sous un vocable que le Petit Robert et l’Académie Française assimilent de nos jours encore à un outil agricole (“machine à égréner les céréales”!). Décidément à la pointe sur ce thème, la maison Frémeaux, après les exemplaires “Deux petits bouts de bois – Une autobiographie de la batterie de jazz” d’Alain Gerber et “La naissance de la batterie – Les origines de la batterie et les premiers batteurs à La Nouvelle-Orléans” de Guillaume Nouaux (tous deux dûment chroniqués ICI et ICI) donne à présent la parole à cette jeune batteuse (non, on ne dit pas battrice, Patrice), et son livre est une plongée dans son itinéraire personnel, depuis son tout premier kit cofinancé par son papa jusqu’à ses tournées internationales au sein du trio pop-rock actuel Juniore. En chemin, elle nous fait part de ses réflexions sur la musique, ainsi que sur la part congrue qu’y tiennent encore trop souvent les femmes, mais sans pathos ni gémissements excessifs. Juste le constat que les role-models féminins y sont rarement incarnés par ses consœurs sur son instrument, et le témoignage de ce qu’il faut de persévérance pour se faire une place dans ce métier si précaire, concurrentiel et exigeant que l’on appelait jadis le show-business.
